BUILDING COMPREHENSION – PROGRAM FORMAT

Thinking Organized’s summer programs run on a weekly cycle, Monday – Thursday for one hour each day, throughout the summer.

  • We offer two reading comprehension programs: Ready Reader: Building Comprehension and Ready Reader: Summer Reading. Both work to build comprehension using different formats.
  • Both programs are offered at 12 p.m. each week, and prior registration is required.
  • Each program is individualized and one-on-one.
  • The cost per four-day program is $595.

To schedule this summer program:

  • Click the registration link and follow the steps.
    • Select a start date and time on the calendar (programs always start on a Monday).
    • Select your preferred location (Thinking Organized office or virtual) and fill out the questionnaire.
    • Submit payment via PayPal (there is an option to pay by credit card, as well).

ELEMENTARY 

Ready Reader: Building Comprehension

Literature becomes complex as students move through school, and their teachers expect them to sustain attention to longer and more complicated texts. Ready Reader: Building Comprehension is a program designed to strengthen these core skills. During this one-on-one, week-long program, students will learn to build comprehension skills through character analysis, chapter summaries, and annotation.

This program can be adapted to all reading levels and is designed to help your children:

  • Utilize context to define novel vocabulary
  • Differentiate between main ideas and supporting details
  • Take notes to remain focused while reading
  • Combine new information and prior knowledge to make inferences

Ready Reader: Summer Reading

Ready Reader: Summer Reading
program is designed to prevent required summer reading from being a chore. During this one-on-one, four-day program, students will learn to actively engage in reading through a variety of strategies and activities. Students may either bring in their assigned summer reading or a book of their choice. Imagine – your child can get a head start on reading before school starts and have fun doing it!

This program can be adapted to all reading assignments and is designed to help your children:

  • Strengthen basic reading comprehension skills
  • Learn how to sustain attention to longer texts
  • Walk away with easy-reference notes to refresh memory when school starts

MIDDLE SCHOOL 

Ready Reader: Building Comprehension

Literature becomes more complex as students move through school, and their teachers expect sophisticated analyses. Ready Reader: Building Comprehension is a program designed to strengthen these core skills. During this one-on-one, four-day program, students will learn to build comprehension skills through character analysis, chapter summaries, theme exploration, annotation, and written responses using text evidence. In addition, they will learn how to create and adhere to a reading schedule.

This program can be adapted to all reading levels and is designed to help your children:

  • Understand relationships between themes and ideas
  • Utilize context to define novel vocabulary
  • Develop inferential skills, analyze text, and understand the deeper meaning of literature via conversation and written response
  • Identify tone and purpose in written material

Ready Reader: Summer Reading

Ready Reader: Summer Reading program is designed to prevent required summer reading from being a chore. During this one-on-one, four-day program, students will learn to actively engage in reading through a variety of strategies and activities.
