I was personally introduced to Hopscotch by one of my sixth grade students. Basically, it teaches users how to code by creating their own mini games, mini websites, artwork, Rube Goldberg machines, and more. What I really liked about the app is that it had excellent instructive video tutorials to take us through the whole creation process. In less than 15 minutes we were able to create our own version of the popular game Flappy Bird while learning about abstraction, variables, conditionals, loops, and more! As an adult who does not know anything about coding, I even found it to be very informative and enjoyable. The best part is that the possibilities for what you can create using this app are truly limitless and allow for tons of creativity and problem solving. Once you create a game or artwork, you can publish it and share it with everyone else in the Hopscotch community, making it rewarding and entertaining to play and learn from games others have created.
If you are looking for a fun, educational app to try with your kids this summer, Hopscotch is definitely a great choice. Learn more about it here: http://www.gethopscotch.com/
