FAQ

What services does Thinking Organized offer?

We provide one-on-one support to help students and adults with improving receptive and expressive language while strengthening executive functioning skills. Our team includes speech-language pathologists and educational mentors who offer individualized instruction in areas like time management, organization of personal belongings and space, effective studying strategies, reading comprehension, and written language skills.

Who can benefit from Thinking Organized’s services?

Our services are helpful for individuals who struggle with planning, organizing materials and personal space, completing tasks that are non-preferred, and following through on academic tasks. We work with students from elementary schools through college, as well as adults balancing work and home responsibilities. Many clients have ADHD, learning differences, or language-based challenges.

What are executive functioning skills?

Executive functioning (EF) skills help us manage time, stay organized, start and complete tasks, and solve problems. These are the skills that support learning, productivity, and independence at any age.

What is the background of your team?

Our team includes licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and trained educational mentors. SLPs address communication, reading, writing, and cognitive-communication disorders and they integrate the executive functioning skills needed to be successful in life. Mentors focus on all aspects of executive functioning strategies and skills needed for daily success.

Where are sessions held?

Thinking Organized offers sessions virtually, via Zoom, or in-person at our office located in Chevy Chase, MD. Under certain circumstances, we can offer sessions in your child’s school. At this time, we do not offer sessions in clients’ homes.

Where is Thinking Organized located?

We are conveniently located at 5425 Wisconsin Avenue (Suite 600) in Chevy Chase, MD. We are right down the street (2 minutes walking) from the Friendship Heights metro station on the Red Line. There are several bus lines that stop at Friendship Heights, as well. Paid parking is available next to our office, in the Collection parking lot.

What is the cancellation policy?

We strongly believe in the value of consistent attendance—it’s key to making real progress and getting the most out of our work together. That’s why we have a 48-business-hour cancellation policy in place. For example, a Monday session must be cancelled by the prior Thursday, and a Tuesday session by the prior Friday. Frequent cancellations interrupt the continuity that’s essential for meaningful progress.

Do you accept insurance?

Thinking Organized, LLC is a non-participating provider, so we do not accept insurance or submit claims on your behalf. Some insurance plans with out-of-network benefits may reimburse sessions with our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). If you’re working weekly with an SLP, we can provide a flex spending statement—including relevant procedure and diagnosis codes—upon request. Sessions with Educational Mentors are not coded for insurance purposes, and flex spending statements cannot be provided for these services.

How much do Thinking Organized’s services cost?

Our services start at $160/hr. We work hard to keep costs low while providing high-value support that helps you function better, stay organized, and accomplish your most important goals.
